“The Bereavement Standard – Probate Legal Professionals Round Table Event.”

The Probate Network are pleased to be supporting this event brought to you by Settld

We are inviting probate professionals to have their say on “The Bereavement Standard”

Settld, alongside Cruse Bereavement Care, are leading the campaign for a Bereavement Standard to establish:

  • An agreed timeframe for companies to respond to bereavement enquiries and settle outstanding customer balances;
  • A bereavement customer care email channel for each company, to directly handle such cases and avoid customers waiting on calls;
  • The standardisation of paperwork needed to close an account, with a view to accepting digital documents whenever possible.

To date Settld have over 91,000 people supporting their Change.org campaign, have hosted successful discussions with the Law Society Wills and Equity Committee and achieved a positive outcome from the Bereavement Standard Financial Sector event which was attended by 65 leaders from banks and insurance firms. As those at the forefront of probate matters the campaign now needs input from the probate legal professionals.

The online event will be supported by The Probate Network and chaired by Michael Culver (Chairman of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), Chair of the ‘Vulnerable Banking Group’ inc. representatives of STEP, PDF, the Law Society and SFE, and Partner at Bolt Burdon Solicitors). The event will give you the opportunity to discuss issues that you face in the existing Probate process and to highlight suggestions for change.

The ideas presented will be fed back to UK Finance and members of the Bereavement Standard Working Group (BSWG)
