The Probate Network is a network of solicitors’ firms, located across England and Wales, who have agreed to provide a free 20-minute consultation to people who are dealing with probate (also known as estate administration). The consultation can be used to discuss any aspect of probate, intestacy, estate administration or contentious probate (often referred to as disputed wills).

Each firm of solicitors in the network has agreed to provide a free 20-minute consultation to answer your questions. The Network accepts that you may use the call to gain some initial guidance before you administer the estate yourself. You may even want to ask the question, “Do I need probate?” because it is not always necessary.

You may not need a solicitor but if you do decide to instruct a professional following your consultation, we hope that you will choose a solicitors’ firm from The Probate Network. What we promise is:

  • The person you speak with will be a qualified lawyer with specialist probate knowledge
  • The lawyer will belong to a  firm which is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and regulated by the SRA

We will send you a checklist prior to your consultation. We ask you to review the checklist to ensure you are prepared and have all the information necessary to obtain the best advice. With both the checklist information and the free 20-minute consultation your legal position will become much clearer.

The origins of The Probate Network

The Network was formed by a marketing consultant after her mother’s search for a probate solicitor. The story behind The Probate Network can be found  in our news section.
